2 dried red New Mexican chilies, stems and seeds removed
3 cups fresh blackberries
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter
1 egg, lightly beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 inch round baking dish. Finely chop dried chilies and combine with blackberries in a large bowl; toss gently to combine. Arrange fruit mixture in the bottom of the prepared dish.

In another bowl, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together. Cut in butter with two knives or a pastry cutter. Add egg and stir until entire mixture is crumbly.
